In the Community article: DeKalb Prepares for Zoning Code Update with Public Meetings
November 20, 2008
The DeKalb County Planning and Development department is spearheading an effort to examine its current zoning code for the entire county and has selected a consultant team to update the DeKalb County Zoning Ordinance. The public has its first opportunity to learn more about the project at a community meeting on Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Mason Mill Center (1340-B McConnell Drive, 30033) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The department's goal is to create a new zoning ordinance that is easier to use while providing controls that will ensure quality development. During the first meeting, participants can expect a workshop-style meeting where they will have the opportunity to learn more about zoning, how it impacts them and what the re-write process will entail. Participants will also be encouraged to give feedback on issues and constraints they have experienced with the current code.
To learn more, visit www.co.dekalb.ga.us/planning/zoningCode.html. Comments may also be submitted online and citizens can also join the project mailing list to receive mailings. For more information, contact Arthur F. Duncan at afduncan@co.dekalb.ga.us.
The anticipated completion of the DeKalb County Zoning Ordinance update process is September 2009.
