Walking tour flyerEmbrace the culture, diversity and times past of Atlanta with walking tours around the City of Decatur and the historic neighborhood of Druid Hills. These tours are designed to promote walking as a safe, convenient exercise and to familiarize participants with local restaurants and shops and municipal and historical points of interest in the community.

See Decatur
Decatur has six self-guided walking tours for people interested in walking and seeing the sights of the city. The routes and key points of interest are presented in free brochures available at the Decatur Recreation Center or online at www.decaturga.com.

The tours vary in length and level of intensity: level one -- "stretch your legs"; level two -- "quicken your pulse"; and level three -- "challenge yourself."

Explore Druid Hills
Enjoy the gracious ambiance of the Druid Hills neighborhood, planned in 1893 by Frederick Law Olmsted. View elegant homes of diverse architectural styles in a lush park-like setting of curving streets and mature plantings. Discover the inspiration for Alfred Uhry's Academy Award-winning film, "Driving Miss Daisy."

Guided tours are provided on Saturdays at 10 a.m., March through November. Participants should meet in front of St. John's Lutheran Church (1410 Ponce de Leon Avenue). For pricing and other details, call the Atlanta Preservation Center at 404-688-3353.
