In the Community article: Liveable Centers Community Meeting
March 23, 2009

Recently the Atlanta Regional Commission awarded a Liveable Centers Initiative (LCI) planning grant to DeKalb County Commission District 2 to study transportation and development issues in the North Druid Hills corridor, from Buford Highway to Clairmont Road. This corridor serves some of the region's most desirable neighborhoods, but also carries commuter traffic, and is the target of many redevelopment proposals. The planning grant (and the project funding that can follow) is an important resource for exploring development options and alleviating transportation problems.
At the meeting on April 16 from 5:30 -- 8 p.m., Andres Duany, a leader in the New Urbanism movement, will speak alongside Ellen Dunham Jones, associate professor and director of architecture research at Georgia Tech. The meeting will be held at Holy Trinity Church (515 E. Ponce de Leon Avenue) and is free and open to the public.
This LCI effort will be a locally-focused and data-intensive study over the summer and fall, with frequent community meetings and consultant support.
