Bike Emory article: Cycling for a Cause

Are you a cyclist looking for a challenge this month? Or are you a volunteer who would like to crew for a worthy bicycle ride? Join cyclists from around the area for the Action Cycling 200 bike ride to support the Emory Vaccine Center’s world renowned AIDS/HIV vaccine research. An AIDS vaccine developed at Emory is currently in human clinical trials with promising results. The 150- or 200-mile rides run May 19 and 20 from Emory’s campus to Eatonton, Georgia at Camp Eagle Rock (there are 75- and 100-mile options each day). Riders can sign up as single riders or with friends as a relay team. There is a $90 registration fee, and sponsorship is encouraged.
Volunteers and crew members are also needed. Crew members travel with the riders, experiencing the ride without cycling themselves. Visit www.actioncycling.org to register as a rider or crew member, get more details about volunteering or to sponsor a rider. You may also contact Alex Brown at 404-712-4145 with questions.
