Emory Cares Service DayGiving back can be such a rewarding experience. Volunteering helps build more cohesive communities by fostering greater trust between neighbors. Giving back also supports a community's overall sustainability by developing norms of camaraderie and reciprocity that are essential to stable communities and neighborhoods.

At a time when many people are living on restricted budgets, volunteering is a cost-free way to help out neighbors, and immediately see the impact your actions have. This holiday season affords many opportunities to give back; a few are highlighted here:

Emory Cares Service Day
Nov. 14 at various locations around Atlanta and the United States

Emory Cares is the Emory Alumni Association’s signature volunteer program. Through Emory Cares, alumni, students, parents, and friends gather to join in a day of service, not just to their home communities, but also the wider Emory community. Emory Cares is one of the University's most prominent vehicles for furthering its mission of serving humanity. By bringing together the diverse members of Emory's family with a common goal of service, Emory Cares strengthens their ties to each other and the University while increasing Emory's visibility around the country and the world. Alumni volunteer service project coordinators in the U.S. and abroad are identified to coordinate service projects in their cities, with guidance and assistance from the EAA.

This year, projects will be taking place in nearly 40 cities in seven countries. In Atlanta, alumni will have the opportunity to volunteer alongside students at various events around the city with Atlanta Emory Cares on Campus. Alumni can also attend service projects in Midtown and Roswell, or with the Gay and Lesbian (GALA) alumni group. Visit www.alumni.emory.edu/emorycares for a full listing of service projects and to sign up.
