Decatur's MLK Service Day projectMany employers will observe the national Martin Luther King Jr. holiday by closing their doors for the day. Additionally, all local schools will be closed. With the extra time off, the City of Decatur is encouraging its residents and neighbors to participate in the annual MLK Service Day project.

Decatur's Martin Luther King Jr. Service project (Jan. 16 through 18) is a volunteer home repair program that enables lower-income senior homeowners to remain in their homes safely and comfortably. Volunteers are needed to help make improvements and minor repairs to some local homes. To volunteer, contact Lee Ann Harvey by calling 678-553-6548 or e-mailing leeann.harvey@decaturga.com.
