New Year's resolutionWe've all done it before -- made New Year's resolutions with every intent to stick with them until we've reached the goals. But "life happens" for most people and oftentimes goal setters get sidetracked. This year, don't abandon those resolutions.

Want to become healthier and stop smoking? The American Lung Association offers an eight-week program at Emory's Blomeyer Fitness Center that is designed to avoid the usual pitfalls associated with quitting smoking. The Freedom from Smoking behavior modification format provides strategies for tracking personal habits, developing coping strategies and practicing in a supportive environment with others who are experiencing the same feelings and challenges. Class begins on Tuesday, Jan. 5 (5 to 6:30 p.m.); enrollment is $50. The class is open to everyone. Those interested in participating should meet at 1525 Clifton Road in the fifth floor conference room.

Did you resolve to get your finances back on track? Successful financial planning and investing is critical to reaching your financial goals. A course is being offered through Evening at Emory that reviews the process of financial planning and gives you the tools to redefine and upgrade your existing financial plan. The Blueprints for Financial Success class is ideal for participants who want to elaborate on the financial groundwork they have already laid out; it will also help organize the array of strategies and products participants have accumulated. The five-session class begins Tuesday, Feb. 9 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.); registration is $150. For more information, visit http://cll.emory.edu.
