Source: Community Partnership Update/April 2008
The days have grown longer and the temperatures have risen from bitter-cold to balmy.
Spring is in the air, so step outside and see what’s happening right here in the Clifton community. This April, take a sneak peek at what’s going on in your neighborhood.
Burbanck Park Events
Last month, neighbors and Emory students used their green thumbs to pull ivy and trim hedges to improve visibility in Burbanck Park, located at the edge of Emory Village. Local Eagle Scout Candler Vinson organized a community project to add walking paths to the park.
What’s next for Burbanck Park? The phase I dedication for the park is planned for later this spring. Since last fall, the development campaign for the first phase of Burbanck Park has raised $50,000 from various benefactors. For more information about the park, visit www.cliftoncommunitypartnership.org.
Annual Artist Market
The third annual Druid Hills Artist Market features the handiwork of approximately 40 local artists offered at various price points. The Artist Market will take place April 18 – 20 in the historic Stonehenge Mansion at 1410 Ponce de Leon Avenue, now home to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
The artists, many of whom live in the Clifton community, will showcase their creations in various mediums including paintings in oils, watercolors and acrylics; jewelry; pottery; photography; and new and vintage textile art.
Druid Hills Home and Garden Tour
The dates and hours of the Artist Market coincide with the Druid Hills Home and Garden Tour. On Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19, participants can take in the picturesque homes and charming gardens in Druid Hills from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and again on Sunday, April 20 from 1 to 5 p.m.
This year, Emory and the Clifton Community Partnership are platinum sponsors of the Druid Hills Home and Garden Tour. Transportation on the tour will be provided by the University’s alternatively fueled shuttle fleet, Cliff. Tour-goers are encouraged to park at Emory’s Briarcliff campus and go together with Cliff.
