Matt Early, vice president for campus servicesMatthew Early, an engineer and leader in facilities management, has been chosen to serve as the next vice president for Campus Services at Emory. He will start in this position on Aug. 1.

Early currently serves as vice president for facilities operations at Columbia University in New York where he oversees building maintenance and repair, grounds, engineering services and commissioning, sustainability, energy management and environmental compliance.

"Campus Services is one division that truly touches all corners of Emory's campus and every student, faculty and staff member, patient and visitor to campus," said Michael Mandl, executive vice president for finance and administration.

Early is a 1987 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He holds a master of science degree in engineering, with a minor in construction management from the University of California-Berkeley, and also has a master's in business administration.

Early succeeds Robert Hascall, who led Emory through a formative period in its campus development, including early implementation of its Campus Master Plan, advocacy for Emory's national leadership in sustainable "green" building practices, and the maintenance of its campus academic, residential and research space.
