Update: N. Decatur Road Improvements and Emory Village Roundabout
January 23, 2009
Source: Community Partnership Update/February 2009
According to DeKalb County officials, road improvements on North Decatur Road and the long-planned roundabout in Emory Village are moving forward.
The roadwork consists of three phases. First, outdated water lines along North Decatur Road through Emory Village will be replaced by DeKalb County. This project began in January and is estimated to last through March. Most of the roadwork schedule for the water lines will occur at night (between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.), with the exception of Friday and Saturday nights. There may be some work done in the daytime, but it is not planned for the roadway.
The second phase involves burying power lines along North Decatur Road. Georgia Power will manage this project, which could overlap with the water main work.
Both of these projects must be completed before DeKalb County can begin the final roadwork project, the roundabout. That project is likely to begin in the late spring or early summer.
As a precursor to the county’s roundabout work, Emory University is completing its new entrance, which will provide additional space needed to develop the roundabout.
