Emory Conference Center Hotel expansionEmory has a well-established green building program, currently having one of the largest inventories by square footage of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified green buildings among campuses in America. Recently, a new LEED certified building was added to the University's portfolio of LEED rated buildings.

The Emory Conference Center Hotel (ECCH) received LEED silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for its new addition to the development, bringing the total number of LEED certified buildings on Emory's campus to 13.

The five-story building was rated LEED silver for the sustainable components incorporated into the structure's design and construction. Those environmentally-friendly elements include being a sustainable site providing connectivity to alternative transportation, water efficiency, the recycling and reuse of building materials and resources, indoor environmental air quality and innovation in design.

This is the first LEED silver rated conference center hotel in metro Atlanta. Extensive renovations have also been completed in several community and gathering areas in the existing wing of ECCH.

Green Awards Grow

Emory was also recently recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle at its awards ceremony for "Deals of the Decade," when the University won the "Design" category for its green building program. Emory's green building program promotes environmentally-friendly, whole building design practices.
Robert Hascall, Emory's Vice President of Campus Services, accepted the award on behalf of the University.
