New Hospital, Same Great Care

Source: Community Partnership Update/September 2010
Recently, Emory Healthcare and HCA announced a shift in the partnership first forged by the two health care organizations in 1998. Emory Healthcare will purchase HCA's ownership interest in Emory Johns Creek Hospital and become the sole owner of the facility; HCA will assume full ownership of Eastside Medical Center in Gwinnett County, according to officials at the two organizations.
"Emory Healthcare and HCA formed this partnership to build on their long-standing reputations for delivering quality health care services and to develop a new hospital in the growing Johns Creek community," said John T. Fox, Emory Healthcare president and CEO.
"Since its opening in 2007, Emory Johns Creek Hospital has established an outstanding reputation as a quality health care provider and this transaction will expand and enhance our ability to deliver community-based health care to this rapidly growing and diverse segment of metropolitan Atlanta," continued Fox. Emory Johns Creek Hospital President and CEO, John Quinlivan, says that the hospital will continue to serve its community and support the community physicians who have been vital to its growth and development.
Fox and the president of HCA's TriStar Division with hospitals in Atlanta, Larry Kloess, said they expect no immediate changes in executive leadership at either facility.
The transition of ownership for these two Atlanta hospitals is expected to be completed within the next several months.
