Top Chef Finalist Chops It Up as Farmers Market Resumes
August 26, 2010
Source: Community Partnership Update/September 2010
Emory's weekly farmers market, held Tuesdays from 12 until 5 p.m. on the Cox Hall Bridge, resumed Aug. 31 with the return of the academic year and brought more to the table than food. Students and faculty were welcomed back to campus celebrating the summertime sweetness of tomatoes with local Chef Kevin Gillespie.
The crowd gathered around the sixth season Top Chef finalist as he prepared a tomato, melon, cucumber and herb summer salad, using locally grown fruits and vegetables, which Gillespie is known for incorporating in his dishes as executive chef at Woodfire Grill in Atlanta.
