The CCP at One Year
June 3, 2008
Source: Community Partnership Update/June 2007
The Clifton Community Partnership (CCP) marks its first anniversary this summer.
It is already achieving results as a community platform for dialogue and collaboration between Emory and the institutions, organizations and neighbors who have a stake in the area’s quality-of-life. Together, we have begun to tackle important work including:
•Defining what we want the area to be like as growth and change take place in the next 10 to 15 years, then capturing and articulating the vision through an urban design initiative. As development happens, it can lead to greater vitality and a more distinctive, pedestrian-oriented public space. Urban Design Guidelines will help to create places that invite community activity and pride.
•Working together to create Burbanck Park in Druid Hills, which provides a natural wooded buffer between the neighborhood and businesses in Emory Village.
•Making Cliff the ride of choice for more and more people, since Cliff is free for everyone. In an effort to get more cars off of the street, the CCP provided free Cliff shuttle service for the Druid Hills Home & Garden tour in April.
•Communicating more actively, via articles and surveys on our website www.cliftoncommunitypartnership.org and through active listening at civic association meetings.
•Forming the CCP Advisory Group, where community leaders work with Emory to address significant community issues.
