Going from Emory to the VA Medical Center? Try walking instead of driving – that is, walking on the new suspension bridge that connects both campuses.
The bridge crosses Peachtree Creek in Lullwater Preserve and provides much needed pedestrian access between Emory and the VA Medical Center. Spanning 210 feet and costing $177,000, the bridge was constructed to be minimally disruptive of the natural environs and touches ground in only two places on either side of the creek.
Designed to blend into the natural scenery, the bridge was planned by Carroll Vogel with the Seattle-based firm, Sahale, and symbolizes a longtime partnership between Emory and the VA, where all medical staff are Emory faculty.
