| Q. |
What is Emory's overall plan with regard to graduate and undergraduate housing?
May 27, 2008 |
| A. |
The overall vision for student housing (undergraduate and graduate/professional) is exciting. Emory is implementing its Freshman Housing Master Plan, which will include building up to 10 new residence halls on the core of campus over the next 8 years. Simultaneously, Emory will expand and enhance the graduate and professional student housing choices by developing housing on the edge of campus that is targeted to the needs of that student population. Importantly, Emory is making a lasting, positive impact to recruiting and retaining the best and brightest undergraduate, graduate and professional students in the world.

 |
| Q. |
Did Emory collect input from graduate students regarding their housing needs and these changes?
May 27, 2008 |
| A. |
Yes. Emory's graduate and professional students have actually helped to inform our development plans by offering valuable input in response to a housing preference survey distributed in 2006.
|
 |
| Q. |
What campus housing will be removed?
May 27, 2008 |
| A. |
The overall housing vision will require that a few existing undergraduate residence halls be razed (i.e., Gilbert, Thompson, Turman Complex, and eventually Clifton Tower). By eliminating some facilities, Emory will improve the quality of the residential experience and better use Emory's campus footprint for its academic, research and healthcare missions.

 |
| Q. |
What is Emory's longer-term plan for graduate/professional housing?
May 27, 2008 |
| A. |
Emory is working hard towards being in a position to offer new housing options for graduate/professional students on a site near campus. Emory has partnered with Campus Apartments to build a 400 bed graduate student housing complex on Briarcliff Road, near the Sage Hill shopping complex.

| Q. |
Who can students and Emory admissions staff contact for more information on graduate and undergraduate housing options?
May 27, 2008 |
| A. |
Emory students, student services and admissions staff should contact Andrea Trinklein, executive director of housing and residence liffe, with their specific questions about housing options. All marketing publications that include housing information for graduate/professional students should also be coordinated through Ms. Trinklein's office. She can be reached at 404/727-4144.
