Emory Health Sciences Redevelopment Project
|
In June 2006, Emory trustees formally accepted the results of a nine-month feasibility study of proposed replacement facilities for the current Emory Hospital and Emory Clinic.
Emory's goal is to create a new campus infrastructure that will enable Emory to achieve the vision of more-integrated, patient-centered, and predictive health and healing. These new facilities will be designed to support research, patient care, and medical training in a new and more nimble way that sets the 21st century standard for teaching hospitals everywhere.
In June 2008, Emory's Board approved funding for the next steps in this project, which includes new inpatient (hospital), outpatient (clinic) and research facilities on Emory's Clifton Road campus and its Midtown Atlanta campus.
This announcement included site locations for these projects, and funding for programming, schematic design, utility relocation, an expansion of the Clairmont campus parking deck and site preparation.
Following an extensive series of community meetings, DeKalb County Commissioners unanimously approved Special Land Use Permits for this project in September 2008.
Due to the current economic climate, this project is temporarily suspended. Emory hopes to resume work on these valuable health care facilities in the near future.
