Oxford Road Bookstore
|
As part of its campus Master Plan, Emory is developing a new building on Oxford Road that will contain its campus bookstore. The bookstore will consolidate three of Emory's current bookstores, and will provide a community coffee shop and general-audience bookstore just a short walk from Emory Village.
Key Facts About This Project:
- The site is currently Emory's B. Jones parking lot, but it will be developed as a bookstore, which will have its main entrance on Oxford Road.
- The new building will include Emory's Office of Admissions and parking deck, which will be surrounded by the administrative space and bookstore, and largely encapsulated from view by the new building.
- The roof of the parking deck is envisioned as a half-acre, grassy, tree-filled plaza, open to the public.
- The new bookstore will include book selections for general audiences, as well as academic books, a campus living room area with lounge seating, possibly a fireplace, and an attached coffee shop.
- The building footprint will be generally confined to the existing B. Jones parking lot, consistent with Emory's Land Classification Plan.
- The new bookstore will open summer 2010.
